NoLimitz – funded by Big Lottery

NoLimitz is a sixteen-week community based early intervention programme that works with young people and their families to build strengths whilst addressing risk factors that can encourage offending or anti-social behaviour.

The programme focuses on the developmental needs of children and their families in safe and secure environments; and improves outcomes in emotional well-being, education, family circumstances and engagement in the community.

NoLimitz provides support with qualified project officers, volunteer sessional workers, mentors, contracted professionals, educationalists and interns. Children are referred through schools, the local authority and families. In the last three years the programme was successfully delivered to 88 young people.

Success means:

  • Parents will feel empowered to maintain and improve outcomes. Young people and parents will understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and will undertake group exercise weekly.
  • Young people will feel a stronger sense of self-esteem and identity and understanding of positive relationships. They will learn skills that will improve confidence, communication and social interaction.
  • They will be connected to positive activities that will divert them away from gang culture.
  • Parents will learn new strategies to improve their children’s behaviour at home and be connected to beneficial services in the community.

The HUB – Funded by BBC Children in Need

The HUB focuses on building emotional resilience. BANG is using the partnerships already established with local schools to facilitate group referrals of young people identified as being at risk of offending and presenting challenging behaviour. Two of our project workers deliver 8 x 1.5 hour workshops which aims to guide children in the areas of emotional and social well-being; self-esteem, confidence, communication, empathy, identifying feelings, emotion regulation, problem-solving and managing conflict and stress. The project workers use arts, media, drama, games and stories to teach the child.

Success means:

  • Young people will feel a stronger sense of self-esteem and identity and understanding of positive relationships. They will learn skills that will improve confidence, communication and social interaction.
  • Young people’s relationships with parents, carers, siblings and peers will also improve.

If you are a school in Brent interested in the HUB programme for your students please email [email protected] for more information.
