NoLimitz (formerly Strength 2 Strength) – funded by Big Lottery
NoLimitz is a sixteen-week community based early intervention programme that works with young people on the pathway to offending and their families. The programme was replicated by BANG as part of Big Lottery’s Realising Ambition Programme (ended in 2015).
NoLimitz ventures to build a young person’s strengths whilst addressing risk factors that can encourage offending or anti-social behaviour. It focuses on the developmental needs of children and their families in safe and secure environments; and improves outcomes in emotional wellbeing, education, family circumstances and engagement in the community.
NoLimitz provides support by qualified youth workers, volunteer sessional workers, mentors, contracted professionals and educationalists. Children are referred through schools, the local authority and families. In the last three years the programme was successfully delivered to 94 young people and families and remains not only on target for beneficiary numbers but has a waiting list in place.
Young people will feel a stronger sense of self-esteem and identity and understanding of positive relationships. They will learn skills that will improve confidence, communication and social interaction. They will be connected to positive activities that will divert them away from gang culture. Activities will ultimately steer young people away from the pathways to exclusions, gang involvement, anti-social behaviour and youth offending. Young people’s relationships with parents, carers and siblings will also improve.
Parents will be able to use strategies to improve their children’s behaviour at home and be connected to beneficial services in the community.
